project integration

DETAILS: This assignment is focused on “project integration” (bringing together individual pieces into a cohesive collection) including three components: (1) integrating various subsidiary plans into a comprehensive “Project Plan,” (2) pulling together the various project artifacts and the project plan into a centralized location to create an official “project file,” and (3) Project Management Information System (PMIS). For this assignment, you will need to respond to questions related to these topics (see below for list of questions).

REQUIRED ACTIONS:

  • The number of words required is 400-500.
  • Submit a professional response that demonstrates critical thinking, problem-solving, and knowledge synthesis.
  • When citing resources, don’t forget to use in-text citations and a reference citation at the end using proper APA style. Please consult Purdue’s Online Writing Lab (OWL) website or your APA guide to assist you.

QUESTIONS/TOPICS TO RESPOND TO FOR YOUR POST (Reply to all the question/topic INDIVIDUALLY to ALL questions): For this topic, research and cite at least two references other than required and optional viewings/readings and your texts.

  1. PROJECT PLAN: In your OWN words and backed up by a reference, describe what a “Project Plan” is, what it may contain (be specific), and the benefit(s) of creating a comprehensive “Project Plan.” Give a description of a “Project Plan” you have created (or helped create) OR how you would create a project plan (if you have not yet had the pleasure) including the format you would create it in and store it in. Consider details such as hardcopy vs electronic, onsite vs in the cloud, collection of Word documents vs Excel spreadsheet with tabs, etc.
  2. OFFICIAL PROJECT FILE: What is the benefit in creating an official “project file” – – essentially a repository of project information? What would be included in this “project file?” How could you ensure everyone on a team dispersed across the globe would have access to the information in the official project file? When is the best time to start creating this “repository” of project information
  3. PMIS: In your OWN words, describe a Project Management Information System (PMIS) and its function. Make sure you describe what is essentially included in such as system in enough detail that someone without knowledge of a PMIS would fully understand what it is and its value (you may need to research this to answer fully). Consider this scenario: You use a proprietary project management software created by programmers/developers within the Information Technology (IT) department at your organization. Would this “software” in itself be considered your PMIS? Why or why?
